After graduating from college as a young bachelor away from home, I decided I needed to learn how to cook. I'd had some gastrointestinal trouble over the years and had read up on health foods in publications I found in the health food stores. The more I read, the more I became convinced that I needed to look into giving up meat. So I started experimenting with a lot of different ideas and I developed a keen interest in learning about all kinds of different cuisines and vegetarianism in particular. I soon learned that it was much easier to be a vegetarian than I had feared and over the years I eventually gave up eating meat altogether. I've been a satisfied vegetarian now for over thirty years.
